ABOUT ME
Michael Mahoney, BAS
As a professional fundraising auctioneer, my passion is making dreams come true. To me, there is nothing more rewarding than helping an organization exceed its fundraising goals; to ensure every last dollar is committed to your cause.
My love for auctioneering began at age five when I saw my first auction on television. I remember asking my mom, “Why does that man talk so fast?” I had to figure it out for myself. I paid my way through auction school, graduating with a Diploma in Auctioneering from the Auctioneering College of Canada. In 2014 I was fortunate to place first in the Auctioneering Association of Alberta’s Tyro bid calling competition. In 2017 I received my Benefit Auctioneer Specialist (BAS) designation through the National Auctioneers' Association (NAA); a specialist designation held by only five other auctioneers in Canada and roughly 300 in North America. In 2018 I completed an Advanced Bid Calling certificate through World Wide College of Auctioneering—colloquially known as the “Harvard” of auctioneering schools. I am a practicing member of the Auctioneers’ Association of Alberta.
In addition to auctioneering, I am a teacher and professional sports announcer. I currently announce for the Calgary Stampeders, the Calgary Surge, the Okotoks Dawgs, the Calgary Colts, the University of Calgary Dinos men’s and women’s hockey teams and the SAIT Trojans men’s and women’s basketball teams. I hold two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Calgary and a Master’s degree from Oklahoma State University.
A lifelong learner, I am dedicated to professional development and keeping informed of national and international trends in charitable fundraising. Let me help you turn your fundraising dreams into reality!
